Introducing Dr. Ruxandra Ana, New Academic Exchange Fellow

We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Ruxandra Ana as the new Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange Fellow at the University of St Andrews’ Centre for Minorities Research (CMR). Dr. Ana will be with us from October 2024 to August 2026, conducting an in-depth anthropological study titled The Pain of Cuba: Women, Emotions, and Embodied Memories.

Throughout her stay, Dr. Ana will collaborate closely with CMR members, contributing to seminars, academic events, and knowledge-sharing workshops, furthering the interdisciplinary research approach that CMR champions.

We are especially excited about the collaboration between Dr. Ana’s project and ongoing research within CMR, such as Dr. Stavroula Pipyrou’s work on political anthropology, memory studies, narratives of the past and present, with a particular focus on silenced pasts, crisis, and violence. This fellowship will also foster stronger academic networks between the UK and Poland, adding a valuable dimension to our institution’s ongoing commitment to global research exchange.

We look forward to the contributions Dr. Ana will bring to CMR and to sharing her findings with our community!
