Virtual Tour to the exhibition Mundos Indígenas/Indigenous Worlds

Espaço do Conhecimento / Space of Knowledge of the Federal University of Minas Gerais, Brazil (UFMG) launched on September 21st the Virtual Tour to their exhibition Mundos Indígenas / Indigenous Worlds.

In the exhibition Mundos Indígenas the public is presented with ways of living, knowing, and taking care of the Maxakali, Pataxoop, Xakriabá, Yanomami, and Ye’kwana peoples.

The concepts presented were proposed by a group of curators and indigenous curators, who invite us to know their worlds.

You can access the messages from the indigenous curators on the following links:

Message from Davi Kopenawa (Yanomami)

Message from Viviane Cajusuanaima Rocha (Ye’kwana)

Message from Célia Xakriabá

Message from Isael and Sueli Maxakali

Message from Kanatyo Pataxoop

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the closure of museums in late March, Espaço do Conhecimento UFMG prepared a series of original videos to provide the public with the experience of the virtual tour on YouTube.

The Virtual Tour series of Mundos Indígenas / Indigenous Worlds Exhibition consists of six videos, the first being an introduction to the universe of the exhibition and the other five being a presentation of the concepts that the curators of the five peoples chose to present their worlds.

The idea was to build a tour where the viewer, from the introductory video, can create his own path through the concepts.

The concepts are shown as an invitation for the viewer to get to know the indigenous worlds without making comparisons and translations based on their own reality.

All the videos of the Virtual Tour are available to the public on the Espaço do Conhecimento UFMG channel on Youtube:
