CMR intern Sophie Cooper recently completed a project at the European Centre for Minority Issues (ECMI) exploring how digital storytelling can be used to promote intercultural dialogue among national minorities in the Denmark–Germany border region.
This border region — home to Danish, German, and North Frisian minority communities — is one of Europe’s most unique cultural landscapes. With its long history of shifting borders, conflict, and coexistence, it is today often highlighted as a model for peaceful minority integration.
Through this project, Sophie invites audiences to listen, watch, and reflect on the personal stories and lived experiences of minority community members in the German–Danish border region. These digital stories provide meaningful insight into what it means to live between cultures and across borders.
